Momentum has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Your tasks live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account — we can't see them. Two things leave the device, both described below: the optional AI features send the text of the items you're processing when you invoke them, and the app sends crash and performance diagnostics about itself, which you can turn off.
Momentum uses Apple's MetricKit to learn when it crashes, hangs, or burns CPU. These reports are built by the operating system on your device, are aggregated, and contain no task content — a stack trace and timings, not what you were writing. They are sent to Epsilon at most once a day and kept for 180 days. This is on during the beta so problems get fixed; the switch is in Settings under Diagnostics & Feedback, and off means nothing is sent.
If you send feedback from inside the app, we receive what you typed, the app and OS version, and — if you leave that option on — recent error-level lines from the app's own log. The log redacts task titles and notes before they are written, so those lines describe the app, not your work. An email address is optional and used only to reply.
Tasks, projects, areas, tags, and everything else you create in Momentum are stored in a local database on your device. The app is fully functional offline.
Momentum syncs through Apple's CloudKit to the private iCloud database tied to your Apple ID. That data is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and is accessible only to you. Epsilon Limited Solutions has no access to your synced tasks.
If you grant calendar access, Momentum reads your calendar to show events alongside your tasks and writes events you create from the app. Calendar data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Momentum's AI features (inbox triage and project planning) are optional and only run when you invoke them. When you do, the titles and notes of the items being processed are sent for analysis. There are two ways this can happen:
Managed AI (default): the item text is sent over an encrypted connection to a proxy service Epsilon operates on Amazon Web Services, which forwards it to Amazon Bedrock (running an Anthropic Claude model) to generate the suggestions. Epsilon's service logs only usage metadata — request counts, token totals, timing — and does not store the content of your tasks. Amazon Bedrock processes the request to produce a response and does not use it to train models. The connection is authenticated so only the app can use it.
Your own API key (BYOK): if you enter your own Anthropic API key in Settings, the item text is sent directly to Anthropic's API under your key and Anthropic's privacy terms, and does not pass through Epsilon's service.
If you never use the AI features, none of your task text ever leaves your device (beyond your own iCloud sync).
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
